Teddy Queer Film Award Winners

TEDDY 22 QUEER FILM AWARD - THE NOMINEES
The eight members of this international jury - filmmakers and organisers of queer film festivals - view films within the framework of all programs of the Berlinale which have queer context.
Three films are nominated for each category and one receives a TEDDY for best feature film, best documentary film and the best short film, each with a cash award of Euro 3,000.

Marcin Pietras - Film and Television Pride Festival (Warschau, Polen)
Maria Cyber - G&L Pornographic Art Film Festival (Athen, Griechenland)
Melissa Pritchard - Lesbisch Schwule Filmtage Hamburg (Hamburg, Deutschland)
Meninaputri Wismurti - Q! Film Festival (Jakarta, Indonesien)
Mihai Chirilov - Transilvanian Filmfestival (Cluj, Rumänien)
Vicci Ho - Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (Hong Kong)
Yair Hochner - TLVFEST-Israel International LGBT Film Festival (Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem Israel)

The TEDDY Jury nominated the following films for the Best Feature Film:

Piao Lang Qing Chun (Drifting Flowers) by Zero Chou
The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela by Olaf de Fleur

The TEDDY Jury nominated the following films for the Best Documentary Film:
Be Like Others by Tanaz Eshaghian
Football Under Cover by David Assmann and Ayat Najafi
Improvvisamente l'Inverno Scorso (Suddenly Last Winter) by Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi

The TEDDY Jury nominated the following films for the Best Short Film:
Café com Leite by Daniel Ribeiro
No Bikini by Claudia Morgado
Tá by Felipe Sholl

This Year we award 2 SPECIALTEDDYS:
The TEDDY Foundation awards Hans Stempel and Martin Ripkens with a SPECIAL TEDDY for their activities and achievements as film critics, film scouts and filmmakers.
The TEDDY Foundation awards Keith Collins, Simon Fisher Turner, Isaac Julien, James Mackay and Tilda Swinton with a SPECIAL TEDDY who as a family, as combatants and allies of British filmmaker Derek Jarman have looked after his heritage.

The Readers of the Siegessäule nominated the following films for the ELSE Reader's Choice Award:
Be Like Others by Tanaz Eshaghian
Football Under Cover by David Assmann and Ayat Najafi
Improvvisamente l'Inverno Scorso by Gustav Hofer and Luca Ragazzi

The TEDDY for the Best Feature Film, endowed with 3,000 Euro, donated by Pro-Fun Media, goes to The Amazing Truth about Queen Raquela, by Olaf de Fleur, "for its ability to address race, gender and poverty in an entertaining way, while also playing with audiences expectations of form." (Jury Statement)
The TEDDY Jury Price goes to Be Like Others, by Tanaz Eshaghian, "an uncompromising and moving portrayal of the shocking reality faced by queer Iranians." (Jury Statement)
The TEDDY for the Best Documentary Film, endowed with 3,000 Euro, donated by elledorado e. V. and by the TEDDY Foundation, goes to Football Under Cover, by David Assmann and Ayat Najafi. "This year's documentaries overwhelmingly won the hearts of the TEDDY Jury by approaching challenging and thought-provoking subjects in an accessible and effective manner. The most cinematic and gripping of them all subtly and humorously tackles gender-roles in sports in Islamic society." (Jury Statement)
The TEDDY for the Best Short Film, endowed with 3,000 Euro, donated by TIMM goes to Tá, by FelipeSholl, "a sharp and funny look at a brief encounter between two boys." (Jury Statement)
The VOLKSWAGEN Audience Award, endowed with 3.000,- Euro, donated by Volkswagen, goes to Football Under Cover, by David Assmann and Ayat Najafi. More than 4,500 viewers took part in the vote.
The ELSE Siegessäule Reader's Choice Award, endowed with 1.000 Euro donated by Jackwerth Verlag, goes to:
Be Like Others, by Tanaz Eshagian.
