Stockholm is Tarantino's! (or is it Josef Fares?)

The Stockholm International Film Festival kicked off November 13 with Kill Bill Volume 1 and its world class female assassins. Festival organizer Git Scheynius greeted the completely packed Skandia theater to introduce a festival of 200 films and 70 directors.
"Quentin Tarantino couldn't come", she said, "but he sends his greetings", adding that 30 pages of the Kill Bill script were written in Stockholm (as were parts of Pulp Fiction). Indeed, the first film to be censored in Sweden was the Swedish film Thriller where Christina Lindberg wore a patch like the one sported by Darryl Hannah.
"Stockholm is Tarantino", exclaimed Scheynius, "and the director of our generation". Festival jury member Tuva Novotny and short film director Jens Jonsson whose film warmed up Kill Bill cut the ceremonial ribbon.
The previous evening the gala premier for Stockholm film elite was held and director Josef Fares (Jalla! Jalla!, Kops) cut the ribbon equipped with a machine gun.
The jury that will decide best film from the international competition are Anna Anthony, Swedish producer from Memfis (producer of films by Lukas Moodysson and Josef Fares); Thom Fitzgerald, US director from Canada (Beefcake and The Event); Martin Kellerman, comic series author of slacker dog Rocky from Södermalm Stockholm; Tuva Novotny, Swedish actress from Josef Fares' Jalla! Jalla); and Bertil Sandgren, former head of Sandrew Metronome, the second largest cinema chain Sweden.
Previous winners of the "Bronze Horse: have been Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction by Tarantino, Bully Larry Clark, and Gaspar Noé's Irréversible, last year's winner.
Guest of honor David Lynch is coming to Stockholm.
