Stockholm International Film Festival presents this years’ Stockholm Rising Star nominees
For the eleventh year in a row, Stockholm International Film Festival is proud to nominate new talented Swedish actors to Stockholm Rising Star. The award is given to a young Swedish actor or actress who, through splendid performances on the silver screen, has shown true potential to become a big star in the future. Among this years' nominees, Albin Grenholm (Eld & lågor, 2019) and Celie Sparre (Lyckligare kan ingen vara, 2018) are announced.
The purpose of Stockholm Rising Star is to highlight new talented actors and give them the opportunity to expand their network and meet new people in the film industry. Previous recipients of the award are Alicia Vikander, Filip Berg, Adam Lundgren and Alba August that got the award last year. Now it’s time for a new star to be born. This years’ Stockholm Rising Star nominees are: Albin Grenholm (Eld & lågor, 2019) Emelie Garbers (Aniara, 2018) Arvin Kananian (Aniara, 2018) Celie Sparre (Lyckligare kan ingen vara, 2018 and In i dimman 2018) Freddy Åsblom (In i dimman 2018) Presentations of the nominees is found here. The winner is chosen by an independent jury made up of Anna Carlson (previously President of the Swedish Union for Theatre, Artists and Media), Lisa Rosengren (Film- och TV-producenterna), Jan Göransson (the Swedish Film Institute), Eva Röse (actress) and Bengt Braskered (actor). The jury nominates actors and actresses who have had roles in Swedish films during November 2018 and November 2019. The winner will be presented at the Award Ceremony on November 15th.
