Short Night of Terror in Amsterdam

The Night of Terror, Imagine’s annual horror marathon, has a different format this year.
The actual films, The Last House on the Left, Splinter, Autopsy and Tokyo Gore Police, remain as gory as ever.

16 to 25 April 2009 – Pathé Tuschinski
www.imaginefilmfestival.nl!

A permanent feature of Imagine is the Night of Terror, in which four horror films try to outdo each other in the grotesque gore department for an entire night. Due to circumstances, the NoT can’t be held in its familiar format this year. An alternative was found in the Short Night of Terror, where the film lover can choose one of three double bills programmed simultaneously in Pathé Tuschinski Arthouse 4, 5, and 6.
The spectacular and nerve-racking remake of Wes Craven’s horror classic The Last House on the Left (Dennis Illiadis, US, 2009)* will kick things off in all three theaters.
Next up is Splinter (Toby Wilkins, US, 2008) in Tuschinski Arthouse 4, in which a grisly spiky monster goes after three motorists who have their own night of terror at a gas station. A bunch of stranded travellers are having trouble in Tuschinski Arthouse 5 as well, when medical care in a remote hospital seems to be primarily performed by hatchet in Autopsy (Adam Gierasch, US, 2008). Meanwhile things are even wilder in Tuschinski Arthouse 6, where the Japanese Tokyo Gore Police (Yoshihiro Nishimura, US/Japan, 2008) eagerly pelts the audience with blood fountains and bizarre creatures, such as a woman whose lower body looks alarmingly like the jaws of a crocodile.
