"Rollin' Safari" and "Harald" receive awards at SIGGRAPHDouble honors for the students of the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg: Rollin' Safari by Kyra Buschor, Anna Habermehl and Constantin Paeplow and Harald by Moritz Schneider, two student projects that were created in Ludwigsburg, are awarded at the Computer Animation Festival (CAF) at SIGGRAPH 2013 in Anaheim in July. Rollin' Safari receives an award for "Best Student Project" and Harald takes the trophy for "Best Student Project Runners-Up." SIGGRAPH is the most renowned international specialist conference for computer graphics and celebrates its 40th edition this year. 104 Projects were selected from 500 submissions for the Computer Animation Festival that takes place alongside the conference from July 21 to 25. The four-piece short film series Rollin' Safari, that were chosen as trailers for FMX 2013 and the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart 2013, thus continues the success story that began months ago: In addition to being nominated for a VES Award 2013 and the First Step Award 2012, the animated hunting sequences featuring spherical savanna inhabitants caused a sensation on the social networks. The films received more than a million clicks on YouTube alone. The diploma film Harald by Moritz Schneider, who successfully completed his studies in animation a few weeks ago, tells the story of a wrestler of the same name with a passion for flowers. Both projects are screened in the Electronic Theater, the largest and most prestigious cinema venue at SIGGRAPH. Ophelia: Love & Privacy_Settings by Bin-Han To, who is yet another successful animation studies alumni, is also part of the venue's screenings. Moreover, two further Filmakademie projects - Lindwurm by Andreas Feix and Natalis by Daniel Brkovic and Jan-Marcel Kuehn that was bestowed with a VES Award in February - are showcased in the Daytime Selects Theater, making it a total of five Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction productions at the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival this year. Please find all film credits on the Institute's website in the Studentische Projekte section. Here's the complete list of winners on the SIGGRAPH CAF website. 12.06.2013 | Editor's blog Cat. : Animation
