Lars Hermann new CEO for Copenhagen Film Festivals

Copenhagen Film Festivals (CFF) has hired CEO of regional Danish film fund FilmFyn to replace outgoing managing director Jørgen Ramskov, who was recently headhunted to start the new Danish radio station "24/7".

Lars Hermann (49) started his career with Danish shipping giant A.P. Moller/Maersk but decided after ten years to change career tracks to the film business when he was accepted to The National Film School of Denmark's four-year producer programme.

Since 1995, he has produced a number of Danish and international films, held management positions with Nordisk Film as a producer, as head of post production and as head of international co-productions as well as other industry positions such as head of development at the Danish Film Institute and, since 2007, heading up regional film fund FilmFyn.

In the past some three years he has invested in more than 25 films including Susanne Bier's Golden Globe- and Oscar-winning IN A BETTER WORLD.

Copenhagen Film Festivals was established in 2008 following the merger of the two Danish film festival organisations, Copenhagen International Film Festival and Natsværmerfonden. Today the film festival powerhouse consists of three annual film festivals: CPH PIX, BUSTER and CPH:DOX, as well as related film activities such as documentary film club DOX:BIO. Since the merger all the festivals have enjoyed increasing audience attendance, resulting in more than 120.000 visitors in 2010.

Chairman of the board for CFF, Søren E. Jakobsen:
"The vision we had for the merger of the film festivals in Copenhagen in 2008 has proven right. The success of 2010 confirmes that the merged organisation has the potential to create even further development and success for the film festivals. We are very pleased to welcome onboard Lars Hermann, who not only has a great deal of experience from various management positions in the film industry, but also with running an organisation which is a private - public partnership, such as Copenhagen Film Festivals."

Lars Hermann will take up the position on 1st July 2011.
