Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Freedom film Festival opens

The Stagecrafters and Solaris Grille will host the Nationally Touring Freedom Film Festival, which will be screening Award Winning films from July 16th to the 18th.
The schedule includes feature length films, shorts, animation, a special children’s feature animation – “The King’s Beard” and a chilling documentary from Emmy Award winning director Tom Roberts: “Inside The Mind of a Suicide Bomber” with on-camera interviews from inside an Israeli prison.

Chestnut Hill will host the WORLD PREMIERE of the FIRST EVER FEATURE LENGTH INTERACTIVE MOVIE. Attendees will be part of history when “Murder at Café Noir” screens Saturday night at The Stagecrafters. Each guest will receive their own control pad, which will allow them to vote on which direction the movie will go. The votes will be tabulated and the computer will adjust the story line based on the totals. The movie is 90 minutes long and the Actors and Director will be attending the screening. There will be a special meet and greet reception to follow in the Red Room at Solaris Grille.

OPENING NIGHT FILM with Vince Vaughn (Swingers) and James Cromwell (Babe, L.A. Confidential) starring in the hilarious BLACKBALL, the life-affirming, new British comedy which tells the classic tale of triumph over adversity that will quite literally bowl you over! (7 PM at The Stagecrafters, 8130 Germantown Avenue.)

“Lightning Bug”, starring Laura Prepon from “That 70’s Show”, comes back to Philadelphia for an encore presentation. It was one of the most well attended films at the 2004 Philadelphia Film Festival. The story is based on actual events and screens Friday at 9:15 PM (The Stagecrafters).

“Dead & Breakfast” with David Caradine is a horror/comedy in the vein of EVIL DEAD II and FROM DUSK TIL DAWN. Six friends on their way to a wedding in Galveston stop for the night in the sleepy town of Lovelock. But after a night that ends with both the Inn's owner and his chef dead, the gang finds themselves under suspicion by the local sheriff.

“American Cousins”. shows us another side to the stereotypical “gangster”; the ability to lend a hand at the local chippie. With its likeable mix of characters, it's in many ways reminiscent of Bill Forsyth's magnificent yanks-in-Scotland flick “Local Hero”. Starring Dan Hedaya (“Mulholand Drive” Vincent Pastore (“The Sopranos”) and Danni Nucci, Saturday at 4 PM (The Stagecrafters).

Local Casting Director legend Mike Lemon will be screening his Award Winning short film “Touched” in the Red Room at Solaris Grille, he will also be on hand at the screening for coments. Mike Lemon will also take part in the Filmmaker’s Seminar on Sunday Afternoon, also held in the Red Room at Solaris Grille.
