Fabulous Independent Film Festival highlights

Held at the Historic Gompertz Theatre in downtown Sarasota, the Fabulous Independent Film Festival will present 4 feature length films and 3 short films celebrating diversity in the LGBT community. Organized by Broken Rules Productions, in association with Sarasota Pride, the festival welcomes everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, by offering a diverse film line-up, containing a taste of every cinematic genre.
Advance tickets are available at www.fabulousiff.com. Cash tickets will also be available at the Gompertz Theatre on the day of the festival. Each ticket is $8.00.
Films scheduled:
eCUPID: a romantic comedy featuring Morgan Fairchild. Having relationship troubles?  There’s an app for that! It’s called eCupid.  But it is just an app, right? Wrong!  Filled with fabulously gay characters and quirky lines, eCupid shows you that true happiness can be found with the boy lying next to you.
LEAVE IT ON THE FLOOR: an audacious, raunchy and big-hearted musical, featuring songs by Beyoncé’s music director. Choreographed by Frank Gaston, Jr., the film takes viewers into the funky world of voguing in Los Angeles.
LEADING LADIES: a romantic comedy paving the way for queer dance champs.  The Campari sisters, Toni & Tasi, each has a secret wanting to be let out.  When Tasi’s secret explodes, Cedric (Benji Schwimmer), pushes Toni to show the ballroom world her true colors.
MANGUS: a campy comedy featuring Heather Matarazzo and Jennifer Coolidge. Midwest high School teenager Mangus has had one dream his entire life: being Jesus in his high school’s annual production of 'Jesus Christ Spectacular.’  Just as he lands the part, a freak accident threatens to derail his dreams.
Short films include:
BEST TEXT: a music video by the local indie-rock quartet MeteorEYES,
BABY CAKE: filmed in Australia
52: a Canadian film starring Scott Thompson.
The celebration after-party is set at Selva Grill, Saturday, August 27, and will feature a live performance from MeteorEYES. One cocktail from a selection of specialty drinks will be offered in exchange for a closing night presentation ticket, eCUPID .  $5.00 drinks, from a selection of specialty drinks, will also be available in exchange for tickets to LEADING LADIES, LEAVE IT ON THE FLOOR and MANGUS.
Sights and Sounds AV, Inc. is a presenting sponsor. Embracing Our Differences, Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida and RCMoore Construction are Producer Level Sponsors. The complete list of sponsors is featured on the Fabulous IFF and Sarasota Pride Web sites, www.fabulousiff.com and sarasotapride.org
