Following the decisions taken by the Swiss Government and Vaud Canton on March 13th – to ban public gatherings and simultaneously to close all movie theatres until April 30th – Visions du Réel has decided to rethink the form of its 51st edition (April 24th - May 2nd 2020).
As the safety of all is a top priority in the current health situation, our team is preparing an alternative and novel formula, solely on the internet. It will enable us to share with the public films from the competitions, on dedicated platforms, for a limited period of time and with a limited number of virtual seats, in line with the Festival's operating mode.
The Industry's activities will also be re-imagined in a digital format, offering the possibility of extending their spectrum even further, and well beyond the borders, by bringing together professionals from all over the world without calendar or budgetary constraints.
All these initiatives are aimed at fulfilling, resolutely and enthusiastically, our commitments to the public – regional, national and international – as well as to the professionals who have entrusted us with their films and projects.
We will detail the main lines of this new version shortly and announce other important events.
