WINNERS FROM OVER 25 COUNTRIES HONORED AT THE HUGOS
The Chicago International Television Competition announced the winners of its 40th Annual Hugo Awards at Park West this evening. Ten different countries won awards in this year’s competition, with Silver Hugos being awarded to Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and Slovakia. “This is truly an international event,” said Founder and Artistic Director Michael Kutza. “With hundreds of excellent entries, the jury decisions were extremely difficult and we feel privileged to honor all the talented people behind them.
The evening also featured the presentation of Career Achievement Awards to Joe Pytka, the legendary director of countless unforgettable TV commercials, and highly regarded television journalist Carol Marin. Both of these widely honored figures were met with enthusiastic applause from the audience of over 200 people.
Two Gold Hugos were awarded, as well as The Chicago Award, which goes to the best production from a Chicago or Illinois entrant. The winners of these three prestigious awards were:
