  • IMFF is thrilled to present Black Barbie as the 2023 Opening Night Film!
Black Barbie is a documentary that explores the untold story of the first-ever Barbie doll designed to represent a Black woman, highlighting its impact on representation in children's play and entertainment.
The film delves into the history of Black dolls, and how Black Barbie aimed to be a doll that Black children could appreciate and identify with.
But, there is still work to be done in creating a more inclusive and diverse Barbie line-up.

Black Barbie also shows Oct 15 @ 1p
