Autumn receives two Golden Goose Award from Kars

The awards of the 14th Festival on Wheels have found their owners. The Golden Goose Award went to the Mexican film, The Desert Within (Desierto Adentro) while Özcan Alper’s Autumn (Sonbahar) received two awards at once. The awards of the 14th Festival on Wheels were given during a ceremony in the Kars City Theatre on November 13. In the ceremony attended bu actors and actresses such as Tuncel Kurtiz, Hatice Aslan, and Başak Köklükaya.

Autumn received the ‘Best Film’ award from the Turkish Film Critic’s Jury made up of Uygar Şirin, Alin Taşçıyan, Burak Göral, Yeşim Tabak and Senem Erdine İşmen. It was also awarded the Silver Goose ward by the Golden Goose Jury. The film narrates, with captivating cinematography, the last days of Yusuf who returns to his village in the Eastern Black Sea region after spending 10 years in prison. Having been incarcerated in 1997 while he was a 22 year old university student, he was later released from imprisonment due to his health problems.
The Golden Goose was awarded to Mexico
The International Jury composed of Dan Fainaru (Israel), Kutluğ Ataman (Turkey), Fred Kelemen (Germany), Aimee Mullins (USA) and Alexandra Odic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) awarded the film Desert Within (Desierto Adentro) by the Mexican director Rodrigo Pla. Focusing with striking intensity on the subjects of sin, a father-son relationship and religion.
While the film Snow (Snijeg) by Bosna and Herzegovina based director Aida Begic was awarded with Special Mention, the Short Film Audience Award was given to Skhizein by Jeremy Clapin.
An award to Hasan Saltık
During the ceremony, wherein the creator of Kalan Music, Hasan Saltık was presented with an award for his contributions to cinema, films produced within workshops taking place throughout the festival were screened.
