The 4th Athens ANIMFEST will be held on March, 19-22, 2009. Athens ANIMFEST establish the following awards:

International : GET TO KNOW THE NEIGHBOURS!

The European Animation Center through its activity “Get to know the neighbours!” supports the collaboration among the South East European countries by establishing the following:

- “Nassos Vakalis” PRIZE FOR THE BEST EASTERN EUROPEAN ANIMATOR.
The award is given every year in the European Animated Film Festival "BALKANIMA" in Belgrade.
The prize covers the artist’s full accommodations to the next Animfest in Athens Greece, including presentation of his work and participation to the ANIMFEST jury committee.
This year’s winner is Veljko Popović from Croatia for his film:
“She Who Measures.”

- "Αnimart" ANNUAL INTERNSHIPS
The internships are offered to Serbian college artists that excelled at their art classes.
The young artist will have the chance to participate in various media workshops and receive training in animation techniques by established international animation professionals.
The internship includes the traveling expenses and full accommodations during ANIMART.

- 1st MEETING OF ANIMATION FESTIVALS OF SOUTH-EAST EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.

Letter from Aka The Balkanima Team

Dear all,

On behalf of the whole BALKANIMA team, we wanted to tell you that we were glad to meet you all, and it was of our honor to have you here during the festival.
We wish to thank you for the rich presentation of animation in Greece, which was not so familiar to us until that moment.
Now, we can say that our attempts to spread the information about animation production in the region were successful.
We hope that this was just the beginning of our collaboration and friendship.
As soon as we have the festival material ready, we are going to send it to you.
