Angela is a 13-year-old peasant girl whose virginity is bought from her father by Calixto, a landowner in the area. A story that takes place in Córdoba in the 40s, a rural region in Colombia, in the midst of a social and political event that crosses the historical of the characters. Angela is forced to remain continuously next to Calixto regardless of the circumstances. Calixto, as a result of the different pressures that his social environment imposes on him, makes decisions that lead to using Angela as a shield or escape to them. Angela is the story of how the birth of a woman ends up becoming the curse of being at the mercy of what men and social rules decide about the body and life of women

2020 Sunscreen Film Festival FAQ

AMC Theaters Sundial will be open for business and all screenings will take place there.

The festival is following all established guidelines and the number-one priority is the health and safety of both Festival attendees and the entire community.

Sunscreen is following the lead of other in person festivals that will occur like the Toronto Film Fest by establishing new protocols. Sunscreen will occur but with physical distancing, online only ticketing, no printed programs and other safety measures.

Since screen capacities will be at 50% the festival and AMC have added more screens so most films will have multiple screenings to accommodate attendees.

Workshops are always very popular and those will be done at AMC Theatres to take advantage of their safety cleaning protocols. Workshops will follow all physical distancing and safety protocols. Some workshops may take place at the Hilton to further spread out attendees.

We do understand that many people will not be traveling in to attend the festival this year. For those that do wish to attend the Hilton Bayfront Downtown St. Petersburg is the official Hotel.

The Sunscreen Film Festival is organized and presented by the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Film Society Inc., a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, screening top notch films, providing year-round programing, including; films, educational workshops, parties and events in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and Tampa, Florida. Consistently internationally recognized as a top global film festival it is the longest running mainstream film festival in the Tampa Bay area.

ABOUT THE ST. PETERSBURG/CLEARWATER FILM COMMISSION
The St. Pete/Clearwater Film Commission serves Pinellas County, Florida supporting and working to bring commercials, TV shows, feature films and digital media projects to the area.
Film SPC supports local signature Film Festivals, fosters industry development with free workshops, an online production guide and location database. The film commission participates in direct marketing and trade missions at major film markets, festivals and tradeshows in North America and Internationally like Sundance, Cannes, Toronto and more.
Film SPC has a local film incentive program. Film, TV, digital media, music videos and more are eligible for the development marketing partnerships. The goal of the incentive is to provide exclusive destination exposure for St. Pete/Clearwater as an area with a growing reputation for filmmaking and television programming, great locations, and excellent crew and equipment resources.
