20th anniversary Oscar presentation of Fields of Dreams

An Academy Gold Standard Screening Featuring a 20th anniversary presentation of Field of Dreams, Hosted by Los Angeles Times Film Critic Kenneth Turan

Followed by a cast-and-crew reunion including actor Kevin Costner; writer-director Phil Robinson; producers Chuck Gordon and Lawrence Gordon; production designer Dennis Gassner; and cinematographer John Lindley.
Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) hears a voice in his cornfield, telling him “If you build it, he will come.” This mysterious occurrence leads Ray into the past, on an unexpected cross-country journey, and in search of an elusive connection with his long-dead father. This is a magical film about the transformative power of baseball, the love of a son for his father, and believing in something that you can’t quite define in words.

Cast Kevin Costner (Ray Kinsella), Amy Madigan (Annie Kinsella), Gaby Hoffman (Karin Kinsella), Ray Liotta (Shoeless Joe Jackson), Timothy Busfield (Mark), James Earl Jones (Terence Mann), Burt Lancaster (Dr. “Moonlight” Graham), Frank Whaley (Archie Graham), Dwier Brown (John Kinsella).

Directed by Phil Alden Robinson. Produced by Lawrence Gordon, Charles Gordon. Screenplay Robinson. Based on the book Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella. Cinematography John Lindley. Film Editing Ian Crafford. Production Design Dennis Gassner. Art Direction Leslie McDonald. Set Decoration Nancy Haigh. Music James Horner. Supervising Sound Editor Sandy Gendler. Gordon Company; Universal Pictures. 1989. 35mm. 106 mins. Print courtesy of the Academy Film Archive and Universal.
