News about new short film releases from Ron de Cana Productions, Inc.


FROM ON HIGH & POOLING to have Los Angeles premieres!

Both FROM ON HIGH (2017) & POOLING (2018), films from Ron de Cana Productions, Inc. and directed by Dawn Westlake, have been accepted to the 14th annual LA International Children's Film Festival at Plaza de la Raza. The films will screen in a block starting at 4p on Saturday, December 1st, 2018. Admission is free.

Both films were shot and edited in Barcelona, Spain by Pol Carrizo Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona. "Pooling" is a hybrid live-action breakdance/animation/visual effects film featuring the dancing and choreography of Marc Carrizo Vilarroig ("Markitus") from the internationally-known troupe Brodas Bros. Dismas & GrissyG Lizarraga of LA animation studio GrisDismation did the opening and closing animated sequences. Joan Armand Forero of Barcelona provided an original theme.

"From On High" is a film about a Syrian refugee girl who finds a better life in Europe. GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs composed an original score. The film marks the professional acting debut of 11-year-old actors Zoe Pinell Lopez and Esteve Serra Coll. It's won 10 awards, in the US, the UK, Spain and Italy (7).
