Hills And An Audience Rapt By The Choice On Offer?

It can only be The Flat Lake, the festival we now insist on every
August. We are back from our junket of culture and craic; happy, sated
and hopefully ready to organize and excite again with Clones Film
Festival 2009.

Thousands walked the recession proof Scotshouse hills on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday and partook in a range of events which can only be
described as eclectic, decadent, generous and inspirational.

The Clones Film Festival Cinema Tent was situated at the far end of the
field and from our opening film to our closing bash (with the always
entertaining Hacienda) we had full houses and wonderful feedback for our
programme of talks, short film and documentary.  The entire programme in
our tent was a highlight for us but we will particularly remember the
reactions to The Boys of St. Columb’s , George O’Reilly’s fascinating
talk on his friendship with Bing Crosby, Peadarin Na Stoirme, Jackie
Jarvis’ documentaries and the Scanbitz Challenge re screenings. While we
were busy, all around us other venues were full of eager lovers of all
things literary and artistic, it truly was a wonderful weekend for
everyone who attended and gave themselves over to the unique atmosphere
and entertainment. We made many new friends and greeted many old ones as
well. Roll on next year!
