Winner's Announcement IEFTA-Marché Docs-in-Progress Award

The International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA) In Collaboration For The Second Year With The Marché Du Film Presents A 10,000€ Prize For Documentary Works-In-Progress At The Marché’s Virtual Doc Corner

Prize Awarded To HOLY CRAFT

Directed by: Joseph Mangat

Presented as part of the Showcase PHILIPPINES

The Monaco-based International Emerging Film Talent Association (IEFTA), in the second year of its Docs-In-Progress collaboration with the Marché du Film, presented an award of 10,000€ with professional long-term project follow-up to the film Holy Craft, Directed by Joseph Mangat, and Produced by Alemberg ANG (vy/ac Productions, Philippines). Holy Craft was a part of the Philippines Showcase. The Award was presented by the three members of the Docs-In-Progress jury on Friday, June 26 at the online ‘Cannes Docs 2020 Closing Get Together.’

Holy Craft examines the peculiarities of religion, labor, capital and gender all intersecting at a Catholic figurines factory in the Philippines, where devout LGBTQ workers and outcasts pray to the same items they make. The film goes beyond the critique of the business of religion by focusing on the people behind the scenes and how they live and work within the absurdity of it all. https://www.marchedufilm.com/projects/holy-craft/

Jurors for the 2020 Docs-in-Progress competition include Zane Balčus, the head of the Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries in Riga, Latvia; Lea Maria Strandbæk Sørensen, the Impact & Workshop Manager of Nordisk Panorama’s Impact and Doc Forward Talent Workshops; and Lina Soualem, a French-Palestinian-Algerian filmmaker and actress who was the winner of last year’s IEFTA supported Docs-in-Progress Award for her film Their Algeria.
