Paul Haggis to present Ischia Fest highlights in Cannes

American screenwriter and film director Paul Haggis (recipient of two Academy Awards for the feature film "Crash") will be the master of ceremonies of the 8° Ischia Global Film & Music Fest to presented at Cannes Film Festival.

The iconic  American filmmaker - who has just wrapped up production of the highly anticipated feature film "Next Three Days" (starring Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks), will participate on Wednesday, May 19th (Pavillion Italia Croisette -16.30) in the official presentation of the show biz event of the summer to be held on the magnificent "Green Island" from July 11th throughout 18th. Mr. Haggis will be joined by Italian actor Franco Nero, international star agent Jason Weinberg, producer Oscar Generale (promoter of the Pro-Haiti event organized by the Paul Haggis Foundation and taking place in Cannes on Thursday 20th, VIP Room) and Pascal Vicedomini, producer of Ischia Global Fest.

"We are extremely proud to present our Festival to the media and the cinema operators currently in Cannes together with our extraordinary Master of Ceremonies- declared Giancarlo Carriero, chairman of the Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia. Paul Haggis is not only an eminent filmmaker but also a great ambassador of solidarity and peace. His charity foundation has efficiently supported the victims of the earthquake that devastated the island of Haiti and will continue to help them with the funds he will raise in Cannes.

The highly anticipated international show biz summer event, Ischia Global Film & Music Fest 2010, will also feature the Social Cinema Forum devoted to the real values for young people, (organized by British producer Trudie Styler) as well as the 'Movie Educational Seminar' held by outstanding "professors" such as  directors Joel Schumacher and Lina Wertmuller and screenwriters Bobby Moresco and Valerio Massimo Manfredi.

The event (http://www.ischiaglobal.com/) is produced by Accademia Internazionale Arte Ischia in association with EPT from Naples and with the support of the Department of Tourism and Culture of the Campania Region and the department of Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Culture.
