Youth Media Training at CAMBOFEST, Cambodia: Calling Sponsors and Supporters!

CAMBOFEST, Cambodia Film Festival
March 1-9, 2011: Seeking Hardware Sponsors * General Supporters * Advisors and Virtual Volunteers

CAMBOFEST, Cambodia

The once thriving Cambodian film industry fell into ruin following the 1975 Khmer Rouge takeover of Cambodia...

Victims of the brutal and destructive Khmer Rouge regime at the Choeng Ek 'Killing Fields'

CAMBOFEST, Cambodia Film Festival (www.cambofest.com), Cambodia's first international movie festival since the Khmer Rouge era is Cambodia's only 'truly indie' film festival.

Exterior, the 'Royal' cinema, a vintage pre-Khmer Rouge era cinema house discovered and brought back to life by CAMBOFEST in 2009

Inside the 'Royal' cinema hall at CAMBOFEST; the 4th Edition of CamboFest (March 1-9) will once again unspool at the venerable movie house!

CamboFest is seeking the loan or gift of new or used audiovisual gear to help us sustain our mission of re-awakening a cinema industry in Cambodia.

This year, we are working with the Cambodian youth group, Youth Association for Human Resource Development (YAHRD) in order to enable their participation in current and future operations for overall sustainability.

YAHRD and CamboFest staff meet in Cambodia to organize training and festival components

Please help these disadvantaged youth in get hands-on experience in a international film festival environment.

Your contribution of any hardware (on loan or gift) will give them a chance to develop skills in the media trade...with an opportunity for a better and more creative future!

Financial Contributions Are Also Extremely Vital

"We understand your need and appreciate your efforts in terms of Cambodian heritage preservation and capacity building for the young generation, which is part of UNESCO's strategy."*

- Philippe Delanghe Culture Programme Specialist UNESCO Office Phnom Penh

This year (for the first time since 2008) despite intense outreach, and despite the recognition of our mission by UNESCO, Cambodia, the Asia Foundation, and many other groups...we have been unable to secure any institutional funding so far.

But our generous worldwide individual contributors have come to the rescue -  contributing vital operational funds that help make the event possible!

(see a list of individual supporters here)
