Burgas International Film Festival 2018 Awards

The third edition of Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) has come to an end! During the festival week viewers had the chance to see over 30 feature, short and documentary films from the Black Sea countries.
Among the highlights of the festival were the sit-downs, organised for the audience with the casts and directors of the movies. Тhe locations where BIFF was held were visited by Martichka Bozhilova and Georgi Bogdanov, Georgi Gospodinov, Antoaneta Bachurova, Vladimir Liutskanov, Borislav Kolev, Maria Landova, Lyubo Kiurchiev, Vanya Bogdanova, Anna Damaskova, Blagoy Boychev, Mehmet Tigli, Smaro Papaevangelou and Kazim Oz.

Key to making the festival really memorable were also the honourable members of the jury – Anna Goranova (Bulgaria), Vano Burduli (Georgia), Pedro Duarte (Portugal), Pawel Kita (Poland), Hristo Iliev - Charlie (Bulgaria) – who following a series of interesting debates selected this year’s winners:
FALLING (Ukraine) directed by Marina Stepanska is the big winner of the "Danny Lerner" Award. The award is € 10 000 in worth of services by Nu Boyana Film Studios
MERRY-GO-ROUND (RUSSIA) directed by Ruslan Bratov in the Best Short Film category
ALL THAT PASSES THROUGH A WINDOW THAT DOESN’T OPEN (USA/QATAR) directed by Martin DiCicco in the Best Documentary Fim category
Special recognition was also given to the documentary film ACROSS HER BODY, directed by Zacharias Mavroeidis (Greece) and the short film A FERRY TALE, directed by Mehmet Tigli (Turkey).

The Audience Award was given to ZER, directed by Kazim Oz (Turkey).

This year’s festival was organised with the support of the Municipality of Burgas, the Municpality of Ruen, National Culture Fund, the embassies of Portugal, Greece and Georgia, Espaço Camões, Nu Boyana Film Studios, Italian Cultural Institute, Jameson, Ford Moto-Pfohe, Teddy Kam, Insight Invents, Printer.bg, Dives Estate, Grand Hotel & SPA Primorets, Villa Byzantium Hotel, Restaurant Rose, Happy, Saxa Beach, Barbossa, A La Minute Catering, RN Television, Radio Maya, Kanal 0, Vijmag!
