An Exclusive Q&A with 2008 IFF Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Irwin Winkler

The 23rdIsrael Film Festival (IFF) Opening Night Gala in New York presented by the IsraFest Foundation and The Consulate General of Israel in New York included an Awards ceremony and U.S. Premiere of LOST ISLANDS,
directed by Reshef Levy held at the luxurious Ziegfeld Theatre, Wednesday, October 29, 7:30 PM. The Opening Night reception immediately followed at the Flatotel Hotel.

The 2008 IFF Lifetime Achievement Award presented by magazine
editor/publisher Mort Zuckerman, New York Daily News, U.S. News & World Report, went to Academy Award winning producer/director Irwin Winkler (Rocky, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Life as a House, Guilty by Suspicion, The Right Stuff).
A special Q&A with Mr. Winkler was held at the 23rd IFF Opening Night Gala.  

ME: How does it feel to be a part of the 23rd Israel Film Festival?

IW: I'm very proud to be here and be a part of the Israel Film Festival. I believe in the Israeli Film Festival and spreading the Israeli culture all over the world. It's an honor and privilege to be here.

ME: What has been your greatest accomplishment as a producer and director?

IW: Being honored the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Israel Film Festival.

ME: What has been your greatest challenge as a producer and director?

IW: Making my first movie was my biggest challenge. I had no Idea what I was doing.

ME: What was your first movie?  

IW:  Elvis Presley's "Double Trouble."

ME:  Thank you, Mr. Winkler.
