Luc Besson’s Europa party was on Sunday, May 21st at the Majestic Beach. There was one huge neon-lighted tent that led to an outside section directly on the ocean-side. The guests spread themselves out to the joining pier where they held conversations and drank until sunrise. The French DJ played all the right songs which kept the people on the tent’s dance floor grooving to the music.

The IFQ Beach party was one of my favorites last year. This year it took place on Sunday, May 21st at its annual location on Maema Beach. A romantic atmosphere with tables, sun beds and hammocks complete with lanterns made people feel comfortable and offered a great environment to meet new people. Free drinks were served until 11pm with the party ending at midnight. Despite the early curfew, many guests left the party well after midnight.

The HBO Party was held at Nikki Beach on Sunday, May 21st from 5.30-7.30pm. It was a crazy party. There was barely any breathing room as the tons of people were drinking and dancing on the tables in the sunlight. Dancing partygoers were sprayed with champagne as the crowd danced to house music and enjoyed themselves. After attending five daylight beach parties, it is safe to say that this was the best one I’ve been to at this time of day.

The Chopard dinner was at the Carton Hotel on Saturday, May 20th. It was a very high class event attended by many celebrities. The room was decorated beautifully and there were three different food buffets: seafood, crepe and sandwich. The seafood buffet was complete with sushi, caviar, oysters and other delicacies. The first official screening of Borat was held at the Olympia Theatre on rue d’Antibes. Audience members laughed and gasped at the crazy scenes portrayed in the film. Some audience members thought the film was a little too racist, while others thought it was just plain funny. Actors such as The Rock even watched the movie in its entirety. The Miramax Party (by invitation only) was held at Nikki Beach opposite the Carlton Hotel on Thursday, the 18th of May. Nikki Beach was the perfect environment to offer the guests a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. The large sized sofas and sunbeds in the sand and the good tasting and refreshing cocktails give you that relaxed holiday feeling and allow an escape from the rush outside.
