The 18th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film FestivalThe Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival is a traditional festival for Chinese filmmakers, organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Film Association. The annual festival is held in one of China's large or medium-sized cities each year and usually lasts for five days. Awarded to publicly showed films in the year, the Golden Rooster Awards consist of Best Film, Best Documentary, Best Science and Education Film, Best Cartoon, Best Traditional Opera Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Photography, Best Music, Best Sound, Best Editing, Best Special Effects, Best Costume Design, Best Make-up and Best Props. The awards also add a special award and an honorary award when needed. The 18th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival (Jinji Baihua) opened on October 14 at Jiangxi's provincial Gymnasium,with a star-studded gala event attended by some of China's most well-known actors and filmmakers. More than ten-thousand spectators packed the gymnasium to watched the performance which featured the singing of movie theme songs. The festival is being held in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province and as it is the 60th anniversary of both the People's Republic of China and the China Film Association, which founded the Golden Rooster Film Awards in 1981. Aside from the glamorous opening, awards and closing ceremonies, this year's Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival also included various themed events and film promotions. The international film exhibition presented the latest films from the US, Japan, South Korea and Poland including "Cassandra's Dream" and "The Stranger." Altogether, there are 155 films nominated for the Golden Rooster Awards. They'll compete for 18 awards. The Flowers Film Festival is
The Flowers Film Festival is a traditional festival that should be held in other countries too. Flowers are really versatile and they can provide a really interesting artistic content in which all the participants can prove their creativity.
