European Shooting Star - focus on Devrim Lingnau

She will be shooting next with German film director Ayse Polat (after receiving the Bavarian Film Award for her film "Im toten Winkel" Polat was awarded in Berlin by the German Film Critics Association for the best screeplay),  just completed shooting for "Lady Nazca" in Peru, is the leading actress in "Hysteria" by Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay (world premiere at Berlinale in Panorama) and has reached season 3 with the succesful series "The emperess" on Netflix.

And now she is one of the 10 European Shooting Stars 2025, a great opportunity. This new platform for young European actors, this recognition as a Shooting Star at the Berlin International Film Festivals open further doors, a terrific springboard, giving her a whole new level of visibility, a brighter audience and the chance to choose between projects.

It is the start of a new chapter in a promissing young actress career.

I'm talking about talented German actress Devrim Lingnau. Nomen est omen: Devrim translates with REVOLUTION from Turkish.

Controversial roles (Hysteria), powerful women (The emperess), portraiting confident and intelligent women ( in "Lady Nazca" she is playing German mathematician and archeologue Maria Reiche in front of Damien Dorsaz’s camera in Peru), the German actress is embracing diversity and political engagement. And this is what Devrim Lingnau personally stands for, and I witnessed this when she spoke out during the press confernce of the European Shooting Stars in Berlin on 16.02, pointing out to the upcoming German elections and adressing an emotional appeal to show civil courage.

Daughter of a Turkish father and a German mother, fluent not only in German and Turkish but also in English, this Mannheim native actress played the demanding leading role in the highly successful Netflix series "The Empress", awarded with an Emmy. Here she incorporates Elisabeth, reinventing Sissy as a confident emperess in such a convincing way, and as a consequence Devrim has now an worldwide audience. It has been an excellent year for her and Devrim can now "nach den Sternen greifen" as we say in German, reach out to the stars.

When asked what she expects from the European Shooting Star at Berlinale she quite modestly replied "I'm looking forward to meeting with filmmakers who share similar political and artistic concerns and find out what is happening in the European cinema right now"

Reach out for the stars Devrim!
