The 43rd Molodist ended with The Closing ceremony in “Kyivska Rus” cinema

THE 43RD MOLODIST IFF: WINNERS HAVE BEEN AWARDED

The 43rd Molodist is about to end. The Closing ceremony just took place in “Kyivska Rus” cinema, where the winners have been awarded.

 

 

The Grand Prix of the 43rd Kyiv International Film Festival “Molodist”, the "The Scythian Deer" and the UAH 80,000 certificate, goes to the Student Short Film “The Mass of Men”, directed by Gabriel Gauchet, United Kingdom.

 

 

The Winner of the International Full-Length Film competition, “Ilo Ilo” by Anthony Chen (Singapore), was given a USD 2500 certificate.

 

Special mentions went to “The Owners” (Los Dueños) by Agustín Toscano and Ezequiel Radusky (Argentina) “For the artistic depiction of relationships between servants and masters and giving new life to traditions of Buñuel and Losey” and “Nothing Bad Can Happen” (Tore tanzt) by Katrin Gebbe, Germany “For the best film cast”.

 

 

The Best Film of the International Short Film competition is “Butter Lamp” (La lampe au beurre de yak) by Hu Wei, France.

 

Special mentions in this section are given to “Noah” by Walter Woodman and Patrick Cederberg, Canada “For the artistic minimalism in showing the drama of virtual communication” and to “The Whistle” (Gwizdek) by Grzegorz Zariczny, Poland “For the subtle and poetic depiction of everyday life”.

 

 

The First Award of the International Student Film competition goes to “Mother” (Matka) by Łukasz Ostalski, Poland.

 

The special mention for “The Best Actor’s Performance” (Vincent Krüger) goes to “Sunny” by Barbara Ott, Germany.

 

 

The Best Film of the National Film competition is “The Road Back” (Vozvrashcheniya) by Aleksandr Ratiy, Ukraine. The film received a prize, a USD 2500 certificate.

 

Special mentions of the national competition:

“For the mastery in evoking emotions” – “The Way” (Doroha) by Max Ksjonda;

“For the irony à la humanities” – “From Human Life. Bohemia” (Z liudskoho zhyttia. Bohema) by Hanna Fedoryachenko;

 “For saving the traditions of Ukrainian cinematograph” – “Commemoration” (Pomyn) by Iryna Tsilyk.

 

 

The Diplomas of the Ecumenical Jury go to the short film “Commemoration” (Pomyn) by Iryna Tsilyk (Ukraine) and the feature film “The Weight of Elephants” by Daniel Joseph Borgman (New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden).

 

Special mentions are there for “The Golden Cage” (La jaula de oro) by Diego Quemada-Díez (Mexico, Spain) and “Me, Myself and Mum” (Les garçons et Guillaume, à table!) by Guillaume Gallienne (France, Belgium).

 

 

The FICC jury's “Don Quichotte” Prize goes to “Sarah Prefers to Run” (Sarah préfère la course) by Chloé Robichaud (Canada).

 

The special mention – “Me, Myself and Mum” (Les garçons et Guillaume, à table!) by Guillaume Gallienne (France, Belgium) and “Auschwitz on My Mind” by Assaf Machnes (Israel).

 

 

The FIPRESCI Prize goes to “Ilo Ilo” by Anthony Chen (Singapore).

 

 

The Winner of the “Sunny Bunny” competition is “In the Name of…” (W imie…) by the Polish director Małgorzata Szumowska.

 

The special mention of the program goes to “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” (Ming tian ji de ai shang wo) by Arvin Chen from Taiwan and “Who’s Afraid of Vagina Wolf?” by Anna Margarita Albelo from USA.

 

 

The Winner of the “Molodist for Kids” competition is “The Rocket” by Kim Mordaunt (Australia, Laos, Thailand).

 

Special diplomas: “For the Best Story” – “Clara and the Secret of the Bears” (Сlara und das Geheimnis der Bären) by Tobias Ineichen, Switzerland; “For the Best Director’s Solution” – “Strong Ivan” (Ivan Syla) by Viktor Andriyenko, Ukraine.

 

 

The Audience Choice Award goes to “Me, Myself and Mum” (Les garçons et Guillaume, à table!) by Guillaume Gallienne (France, Belgium).

 

 

This year’s Molodist IFF featured about 300 films from over 60 countries.
