Babelgum Online Film competition

The global online event celebrating the best in international independent film is a brilliant opportunity for emerging filmmaking talent including students.

Films submitted to the competition will be showcased on the Babelgum Online Film Festival Channel launching next year.

Hollywood director Spike Lee will be the Honorary Judge of the Babelgum Online Film Festival competition that awards cinematic work judged to be outstanding.

Spike Lee's canon of films including Malcolm X and When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, has established him as a provocative and controversial movie maker.

Spike explains that joining up with Babelgum gives independent filmmakers the freedom to screen their work globally, he says: "You have no excuses now. If you have a film and you're talented and someone is not seeing it, it's your fault."

About Babelgum Online Film Festival:

• it's open to all professionally produced content that meets the qualifying criteria
• the film of each category winner will have been highly rated by Babelgum audiences, shortlisted by industry experts and the winners chosen by Spike Lee
• category winners get a cash prize of €20,000 and any advertising revenue share
• winners in each category will be invited to an awards ceremony and gala luncheon to receive their prize from Spike Lee
