WHY call it the HOLLYWEED FILM FESTIVAL ?

Did you know that in 2017, after marijuana was legalized in California, an artist/prankster climbed up to the sign, at night, in the rain and altered the world famous sign from Hollywood to Hollyweed, thus causing an international news story and creating a psychological disruption for the business as usual residents of Los Angeles. We aim to disrupt business as usual with the Hollyweed Film Festival. You know the drill, submit your film, pay the fee and never hear back from whatever festiva...

MidWest WeirdFest

From the founder of Australia's two leading genre film festivals - A Night of Horror International Film Festival and Fantastic Planet, Sydney Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival - comes a cinematic celebration of all things fantastic, frightening, underground, off-beat, alternative, and just plain weird... to the American Midwest!

The Midwest is filled with dark and mysterious byways, strange critters, and mythical beasties. And the great state of Wisconsin has more than its share: from the very real historical monsters Ed Gein and Jeffery Dahmer, to legendary cryptids like the Beast of Bray Road and the Hodag, to strange and wonderful places such as the Forevertron, a UFO landing port, and the mythical town of killer midgets known as Haunchyville.... It's the perfect territory for a festival that focuses on weird cinema from all around the world.

The festival team dreams of MidWest WeirdFest evoking the awe and chills of the sideshow alley of a dark carnival, a place filled with wonders, terrors, and forbidden surprises. The cinematic equivalent of a collection of pulp magazines and underground comix. A film festival that not only celebrates and showcases independent genre cinema - horror, sci-fi, fantasy, thriller - but one that welcomes all types of underground film. From experimental and avant-garde to offbeat documentaries. The festival's seasoned programmers can't wait to see what cinematic wonders await in MidWest WeirdFest's first season of festival submissions!

MidWest WeirdFest's main venue is the Micon Downtown Cinema, located in the welcoming college town of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Chicago Underground Film Festival

The Chicago Underground Film Festival exists to showcase the defiantly independent filmmaker. Preview copies must be NTSC DVD or Blu-Ray or a secure online screener (withoutabox, Vimeo etc). Foreign language work must be dubbed or subtitled in English. Please, do not send elaborate presentation materials, press kits, binders, etc. with your entry. All that is necessary to send is a clearly identified DVD and, if you like, a synopsis or contextual statement about your work. These are the only items that the programmers will see when they evaluate your submission. We don’t want you to pay for unnecessary materials, and they generate lots of waste. If your film is selected for the festival we will contact you about images and press kits. or better yet: put these materials online and type the URL into your entry form.

ENTRY FEES
Entry fees must be in U.S. funds only. Pay through Withoutabox or with this form through Paypal, check or money order. Checks and money orders should be made out to IFP Chicago (DO NOT make checks out to Chicago Underground Film Festival ).

ENTRY FEE EXCEPTIONS
Entry Fees are not required from filmmakers who have screened at CUFF in the past. If you are working in a part of the world where an entry fee would prohibit you from submitting your film, contact us at info@cuff.org to request a fee waiver. Please understand that we rely on entry fees for the operation of the festival and only request waivers when necessary.

SHIPPING
Cost of shipping exhibition prints to the festival is the responsibility of the entrant. Exhibition copies must be sent to the festival prepaid. All film reels, cans, videotapes and cases must be labeled with the title of the entry. The festival will cover return shipping via FedEx or US Mail. Superzebraman

Director: HORACI GARCIA, ORIOL FAURA Y JAVIER URTASUN.
SUPERZEBRAMAN, a documentary about how to make the first Spanish Nigerian production of the history without having a clue. The scene: Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry that produces the largest number of films in the world, over the powerful Hollywood and Bollywood industries. A concept of the cinema in which the movies are rolled in two weeks and for less than 20.000 dollars, accessibly a priori and which Javier Urtasun believed attainable. The thing is that this special look to the seventh art definitively is a world full of possibilities, or at least this was what Javier Urtasun thought.

Born in agreement to the requirements of script of the Nigerian industry, SUPERZEBRAMAN (The movie) counts the history of a man who changes the color of his skin thanks to the power of the zebras. An ambiguous starting point that constitutes the first step of a way riddled with anecdotes gathered in this delirious documentary.

Probably after seeing the documentary we will understand why this first Spanish Nigerian film was never done before: it is necessary to have testicles. Great ode to life and to the dreams that it we should never stop fulfilling, in SUPERZEBRAMAN (The Documentary) you realize that though the producer is drunk and the director does not appear, the important thing is to know that the perimeter is defended by a good number of AK47.
