It started back in 2002, now the 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival is underway, with nearly 100 films being showcased over 12 days in New York City.

The 2nd annual EARTH FOCUS ENVIRONMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL in Los Angeles takes place on April 21st in partnership with Laemmle's theatres and is open to the public (many of which are FREE) kicking off at 9:30 am with an environmental shorts screening from UCLA's Laboratory for Environmental Narrative Strategies(LENS) program followed by four acclaimed films including March of the Penguins 2: The Next Step (10 am), The Last Animals (11 am), Evolution of Organic (12 noon), Jane (2:30 pm) and closing with a screening of two back-to-back episodes from KCET and Link TV’s new season of EARTH FOCUS (5 pm), exploring how environmental changes are forcing all living creatures to adapt in order to survive. Tickets are available at kcet.org/green. Each screening is introduced by a celebrity environmental activist and is followed by a panel Q&A.
The EARTH FOCUS ENVIRONMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL is a full-day event that will also showcase green organizations in Los Angeles that include Heal the Bay, River LA, Sierra Club, Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Project Save Our Sur, and L.A. Works with tables upstairs in the mezzanine area at the Laemmle’s Monica offering important environmental educational information and volunteer opportunities to attendees.
All films are unrated and there is no age limit for any of the films featured in the EARTH FOCUS Environmental Film festival. It's a good idea to arrive about 30 minutes prior to the start of the film. Additionally, Laemmle’s Theatres is offering a special discounted deal of $5 for a popcorn and soda all day to attendees of the festival.
Public Transportation:
Go Metro and take the Expo Line to the last stop: Downtown Santa Monica Station and walk a quick ten minutes to the festival. Attendees will receive a free KCET hat by showing a TAP card at check in.
Drive Yourself:
We recommend parking in City Parking Structure #4, directly across the street from the theatre. If this lot is full, you can park at the next structure one block north on 2nd Street. The rates are as follows:
- First 90 minutes free
- $1.25 for the next hour
- $1.85 each additional 30 minutes
- $17.50 maximum daily
The theater is located on 2nd St., between Santa Monica Blvd., and Arizona Ave.

OneTree Fest of FreedomFilms is a big, pan-India online film festival open to all young persons under30 years of age.
There is no entry fee of any kind. Winners to get attractive cash awards, trophies, internship opportunities with production houses and a large exposure in the digital space.
What’s a “freedom film”?
You have the freedom to choose any subject under the Sun. Freedom to use any kind of approach or style or treatment of the subject. Freedom to choose the kind of language demanded by your subject as in the digital world there is no censorship. You have the freedom from the tyranny of technology as you can use any camera that you can get your hands on!
Guidelines & Rules
Categories of films you can submit

“Nano” film: Between 1 and 7 minutes including titles etc fiction or non-fiction.

“Shrt” film: Between 7 and 25 minutes including titles etc fiction or non-fiction.
How does it work?
After the film submission deadline, a Panel of Jury will select 40 films from each category. These shortlisted films will be put up on the FreedomFilms Channel on YouTube for a period of 1 month. The top 7 films from each category will be selected based on the online views/”likes” and assessment of Jury of Industry Celebrities. You can invite your friends, family and relatives to watch and like them and increase your chances of making it to the top 7 films. The prize distribution will be an on ground event where Panel of Jury consisting of film personalities will talk about the selected 7 films and announce the winners. The whole event will be streaming live on the internet too! Thereafter, the 40 selected movies in each category will continue to be shown on the FreedomFilms Channel for a year..
Who can participate?

Any person under 30 years on the first day of the Festival.

There is no entry fee for participating in the Competition.

A person can send up to 3 entries per category.

There is no restriction on the number of students participating from one institute.

The Director, Camera-person and Editor of a film necessarily have to be under 30. If needed, older actors and other crewmembers can be used.
Production Guidelines

OneTree believes that the contents of a film, originality and innovativeness are important dimensions of a young person’s film.

Participants are free to use any camera/ technology available to them.

While participants have complete freedom in selecting a film’s theme, story, approach and style, all laws of the land need to be respected (incl those relating to obscenity, defamation, copyright and inciting communal disharmony).
