The automobile industry jumpstarted Detroit’s rise and made it the most industrialized city in the United States. But because of changes in American society and population demographics, the city lay deserted for decades and urban prairies complete with falcon, deer and coyote turning out the urban landscape in a B movie setting. Now an unexpected turn of events has created an environment where young people are moving back into the ruins of the former Detroit... are they a new kind of pioneer? Could this now be a way for America to be “rediscovered”?
The Palladium 12 Theatre, a state-of-the-art movie complex located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, will cap off a several-month celebration of its 10th anniversary with a Family Fun Spectacular on Saturday, November 12, 2011. The 2nd Annual DWIFF takes place on June 25-28, 2009. Held in Detroit's University Cultural Center and at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We'll host activities throughout the region, with a focus on downtown Detroit and the talented people and technology we offer the film and media production industries.
The Planet Ant Film & Video Festival is a celebration of independent
movies and the people who make them, featuring comedies, dramas,
documentaries, animations, and music videos from Detroit and around the
world.
The Second Annual DWIFF celebrates our passion for film and promotes the production resources from Michigan's creative community. Juried events will take place at venues throughout Detroit's University Cultural Center, including Wayne State University, College for Creative Studies and the University of Windsor.
