EXPERIMENTAL DOCUMENTARY SECTION 

AS PART OF THE 2012 CURRENTS NEW MEDIA FESTIVAL IN SANTA FE NEW MEXICO JUNE 14-30

WE ARE LOOKING FOR DOCUMENTARIES WHICH ARE CONSIDERED BY THEIR CREATORS AS ART WORKS USING VIDEO AS A MEDIUM IN ALL ITS VARIETY. THE WORKS CAN BE OF A PERSONAL, SOCIAL OR IMPRESSIONISTIC NATURE.

DEADLINE: JANUARY 15^th, 2013

VIDEOS ACCEPTED WITH THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:

-      SHORT PIECES FROM 1 – 20 MINS.

-      FEATURE PIECES FROM 45 – 90 MINS.

-      RECENT WORKS AND PREMIERES PREFERRED.

-      ENTRIES BY WEB LINK PREFERRED (not mandatory).

-      ENTRY FEE: $20 FOR 1^st entry, $15 for 2^nd ENTRY.

-      NO MORE THAN TWO ENTIRES PER ARTIST.

You could win $14,000 for making less than 60 seconds of film in Harbor Freight Tools' commercial pitch competition. They're running a contest through filmaka.com to find ideas for commercials that will drive traffic to their stores and website. 10 pitches will win $500. Harbor Freight's goal is to produce up to three of the 10 pitches into commercial spots and air them on cable, network TV and online – a potential audience of millions. Those three winning pitches will each receive a $12,000 production budget, plus a $1,500 bonus for the writer-director. Including the $500 semi-finalist prize, that's a total of $14,000. Upland Independent Film Festival wishes to give filmmakers a venue for their short works. This is not a serious or elite film festival. Instead, Upland wants filmmakers to have fun and keep it short and sweet. Have fun and maybe you’ll be a winner!

Makers of each category-winning film will receive $150,and the makers of the over-all festival winner will receive an additional $250 for a grand prize of $400!
