On March 10 and 11, 2005, The Louisiana State Bar Association’s Art Entertainment & Sports Law Section, together with the Motion Picture Association of America, will co-host the one and a half-day Louisiana Entertainment Law Institute Global Film Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the host hotel, the Bourbon Orleans, A Wyndham Historic Hotel.
John Malcolm, MPAA Senior Vice-President and Director of Worldwide Anti-Piracy Operations, will give the Keynote Host Presentation in a Plenary Session on Thursday, March 10, 2005. Other panels include “Anti-Piracy: the New Economic War?”, “The New Yellow Brick Road: Where Entertainment Meets Technology,” “World Trade Today: WTO’s Effect on IP Protections,” “Global Film Financing: International Co-Productions, Distribution, Tax Credits and Film Funds,” “The Sky’s the Limit: State Production Incentives”, “The State of the Entertainment Industry in China” and “Bollywood in Hollywood South: The Cinema of India Today.” The Luncheon Keynote Speaker on Thursday, March 10, will present a cutting edge topic in the entertainment field on the new federal Jobs Creation Act, providing tax incentives to U.S. investors in film productions.
Head of the Speakers Committee is Louisiana State University Dale E. Bennett Professor of Law, John S. Baker, Vice Chair of the Louisiana State Bar Entertainment Law Section. Professor Baker anticipates speakers and moderators from studios and production and distribution companies, as well as from media, government and ancillary services markets, including financial, electronics and mobile communications. Current speakers confirmations are from Germany, China, Turkey, India and the USA.
As they say in Louisiana, “laissez les bon temps rouler” – let the good times roll – while imparting and exchanging valuable information as well as networking with counterparts from across the globe.
