This year will be the first edition of Flicks International Student Short Film Festival in Groningen, Netherlands. It is a festival organized by students for students from all over the world. Young, dynamic and the (film)party of the year!
And off course a grand competition to find the best student film of the past year!
The 2010 Canberra Short Film Festival is the meeting place for the hottest short filmmakers. Recognized as one of Australia's premier film competitions, its entrants represent the boundless talent of our film industry.
Now in its 15th year, the Festival has attracted a wide range of filmmakers from all over Australia. Among previous selections and winners have been Academy Award nominated films such as MIRACLE FISH (nominated in 2010). Many of our entrants are film professionals. It has also been a launching pad for many young and upcoming filmmakers who have gone on to careers in the film industry or who have subsequently gained places in film schools.
The Festival itself is attended by established filmmakers and an enthusiastic film-going public who are passionate about film. Our panel of judges comprises industry professionals and we are supported by local and national sponsors who are keen to have their brands associated with this unique Australian event.
Exhibiting filmmakers receive free tickets to the screening of their films at the Canberra Dendy Cinemas, the awards night screenings and presentations as well as an invitation to the glittering after-party to be held in one of Canberra’s most stylish venues.
Because the Festival does not require our entrants’ films to fit into any particular theme, the Festival has an eclectic vibrancy that has huge audience appeal.

“The mission of Beaune International Thriller Film Festival is to
underline the thriller genre, which is after all one of the most
fertile and noble in cinema history, and precisely to try and find new
tendencies, or suggest new directions.”
Claude Chabrol
«La vocation du Festival International du Film Policier de Beaune est à la fois de mettre en exergue le genre policier, qui est quand même un des plus vus et des plus nobles du cinéma, et d’essayer justement de voir des tendances, de suggérer des directions» Claude Chabrol
Chaque année, Le Festival International du Film Policier de Beaune rendra hommage à une ville pour son influence et sa dimension mythologique au sein du genre policier.
Virtual keyboard solidarity alone will
not sustain Haiti's recovery. Tangible projects are needed on the
ground with medium and long-term focus.
The
critics should not forget that the 60-year old Berlin International
Film Festival started at a time when Germany was dotted with World War
II rubble. The Sundance Film Festival started on a very modest footing.
The theme of the maiden edition of CineAyiti International Film Festival is “Cinema and National Recovery.”
Before
the quake of 12 January 2010, Haiti had one film festival (Festival
Film Jakmèl) on the Southern Corridor initiated by the respected Ciné
Institute. There existed also a young but vibrant home video scene with
inputs from the Haitians in the Diaspora (USA, Canada, UK, France).
This
"CineAyiti International Film Festival" in Cap - Haitien on the
Northern Corridor, seeks not to only complement the Southern Corridor
event but also support the emergence of a diversified Haitian Audio
Visual Industry after the quake of 12 January 2010.
Many
film-making countries like the USA, UK, Canada, China, South Korea,
Germany, France, South Africa or Nigeria have more than five different
annual film festivals each.
Therefore,
Haiti having two film festivals - the "Festival Film Jakmèl" on the
South in Jacmel and "CineAyiti International Film Festival" on the
North of the country in Cap-Haitien is a positive development and the
winners will be the Haitian and international creative talents.
By
submitting your film, getting your accreditation or becoming a patron
,you contribute towards the sustained concrete recovery of Haiti's
motion pictures industry.

purgatory / noun / an intermediate place or state of temporary suffering for expiatory purification
Within the word “purgatory”, it is easy to envision condemned souls, torment and darkness. However, purgatory may also reflect the cyclic state in which we often rediscover or recreate ourselves anew from within our personal inflictions. Sometimes it is the necessary stage to exorcise ourselves from the haunting ghosts of the past. Perhaps it is the serene place of self reflection and realization.
From within this, the producers of the DAMNED exhibition of fine dark art present a new exhibition of cinema and theatre called Purgatory. Held near halfway to DAMNED and Devil’s Night on May 20-22 2010 in Detroit, Purgatory will present approximately 30 short films of deeply introspective, beautifully disturbing and darkly enlightening subject matters from filmmakers worldwide. This is not an industry-focused horror film festival, but a tributary showcase of the often redemptive films from the filmmaker’s personal damnations complimented with live experimental performance art on stage during intermissions.

The Feel Good Film Festival's 5th year will be held August 3-5, 2012 at Hollywoods beautiful, new Laemmle Noho 7 Theater. The Festival is a film viewing experience that encourages the development, production, and distribution of short or feature films with positive themes, happy endings that make audiences laugh, and that capture the beauty of our world.
Urban Nomad Film Fest is the oldest and best known underground film festival in Taiwan. It was founded in Taipei in 2002, and the ongoing project is to create a
community-oriented film environment and put an end to the impersonal
‘black box’ movie theater environment where hundreds of people can
watch films without really interacting with each other. We tend to hold festival screenings and events in warehouses, outdoor spaces and converted spaces, rather than traditional film theaters. Peripheral events include concerts, parties, discussion seminars and directors talks.
Urban Nomad's festival content is socially
motivated, growing with and out of digital and grassroots film
movements: underground, alternative, digital, arthouse, DVcam, Flash,
and web-based films. Our program is evenly split between Taiwanese indie shorts (open submission) and international, independent documentaries and features (feel free to contact us).
