Ramon Sanchez grows up in a poor section of LA. Due to circumstances regarding his mother and family (including his mother's abusive live-in boyfriend) Ramon decides to join a local gang to make extra money to help his mother out. When things go bad Ramon winds up in prison for five years. When he finally gets out he meets a social worker who discovers in Ramon a unique talent and ability.
