Films aren't FreeThe Czech Anti-Piracy Union regularly holds lectures on the topic of movie piracy and copyright questions within different film festivals in Czech Republic such as Summer Film School in Uherske Hradiste, Fresh Film Fest in Karlovy Vary, Famufest in Prague and so on. Our main objective is to inform the public about copyright and movie piracy questions in an understandable and complex way. The respect for copyright and intellectual property rights in general is historically low in Czech Republic and that is the first and fundamental thing that needs to be changed. Movie piracy and counterfeiting continue to grow every year and have become a serious problem for the whole film industry worldwide. "We endeavor to explain the people, especially the young ones, that shooting a movie costs a lot of money and that the producers and other parties involved couldn't work for free, to educate the public for the respect to intellectual property rights and, last but not least, to remind them that copyright infringement is a crime. Every lecture is meant to be a complex and understandable interpretation of audiovisual piracy problem and copyright questions related to movies." "We attempt to answer the basic interrelated questions such as: What is a copyright? What is considered to be a work? Who is the author of the work? What are the exceptions and limitations of copyright? What the doctrine of fair use means? What is copyright infringement and what are the consequences? What are the kinds of law responsibility for copyright infringement (civil, offence, criminal)? What punishments may be imposed according to Czech system of law? What is considered to be audiovisual piracy and what are its types? …and many others. Subsequently there is time for discussion and questions from the floor." The Czech Anti-Piracy Union (CPU) is an interest group of legal entities formed for the purpose of protecting and enforcing rights of its members and other subjects in the area of copyright and rights associated with copyright to film works, audiovisual fixations, television programs and other audiovisual works and products. CPU associates Czech and foreign subjects, which take part in the manufacture and distribution of audiovisual works and audiovisual fixations. Our members are film producers, the Motion Picture Association, distributors of Czech and foreign films in the CR, television broadcasters and the Czech National Film Archive 21.04.2007 | Helen's blog Cat. : Anti-piracy audiovisual piracy Copyright Copyright infringement Copyright law CPU Crimes Czech Republic Fair use Law Monopoly Motion Picture Association Organized crime Prague Tort law
