Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We're pleased to introduce to you the first edition of Rated SRTM - Socially Relevant Film Festival New York, to be launched March 14-20, 2014. Rated SR(TM) is devoted specifically to filmmakers and fans of entertaining and commercially viable movies that achieve box office success without resorting to gratuitous violence, vices and sensationalism. The festival will take place in New York City, the entertainment capital of the world.
Founding Artistic Director Nora Armani will be at the Cannes Film Festival 2013 to meet with you and fill you in on how you can participate as filmmaker, panelist, distributor, sales agent, partner and colleague. Submissions are open through December 15. www.filmfestivals.com, www.festhome.com and www.withoutabox.com.
Please feel free to schedule a brief meeting with us during Cannes 2013 by contacting Emilie Wacogne: +33 (0) 6 83 38 19 46.
Rated SR(TM) strives to deliver Socially Relevant films that shine a spotlight on human stories with a relevant message or cause. Perhaps the first Filmmakers' Lab of its kind in the U.S., Rated SR(TM) is devoted solely to the filmmakers who deal with this type of content. During the lab sessions new ways will be explored to help stories that matter reach a wider audience. The Lab will take place during the Upstate portion of the festival, March 14-16th, 2014.
Filmmakers from around the globe with socially relevant stories at various stages of development are encouraged to apply.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Have a great Cannes 2013!
From all of us at Rated SR(TM),
Nora Armani, Founding Artistic Director
Michael Camoin, Director of the Filmmakers' Lab

RATED SR - Socially Relevant FIlm Festival New York is a festival and film lab that aims to satisfy a market need concentrating on everyday positive human stories. THE MISSION of the Festival is to spotlight filmmakers who are producing films that tackle the social and environmental issues of the day without relying on gratuitous effects, loud soundtracks and sensationalism to draw in an audience.

Rated SR aims to showcase socially relevant films of high artistic value that educate, enlighten, entertain but most of all can be commercially viable. Socially Relevant films can be funny, dramatic, romantic, adventurous, comical, suspenseful, intellectually challenging, historical, psychologically inclined, or tell a story that matters. In short, Rated SR films can be anything BUT boring!

Rated SR launches in Manhattan, the entertainment capital of the world where the films are screened, and has Filmmaker panels that run in parallel. The festival takes place in mid-March annually - March 14-20, 2014

Founded by Artistic Director Nora Armani, Rated SR is based in New York and has the festival screenings alongside a filmmakers' lab. The films that are shown are international and can come from any country in the world including but not limited to the USA. The screenings take place at the Quad Cinema in Greenwich Village in New York City.

The film festival coincides with the growing trends related to socially conscientious consumers who seek alternatives to films that deal with gratuitous violence and sensationalism to make a box office entry.

More information can be found at: https://www.ratedsrfilms.org

March 2014 marks the festival's inaugural year.

GRAND PRIZE:
One lucky filmmaker of a feature length documentary or narrative film, will win a FREE one-week run at the QUAD CINEMA in New York on its QUADflix SELECT Program. See www.quadflixselect.com for details. The award is generously donated by the Quad Cinema.

This is an all-encompassing package that includes all the features necessary to successfully launch an indie film in New York City and enter the US market. This is an $11,000.00 value.

There are additional smaller prizes for the short fiction and a DVD-VOD distribution deal offer for the documentary sections, ranging from $500-$1000 of cash and in-kind donations.

Programming is done by the collective and professionals on the advisory committee.
