Is the world of online dating full of those who can’t survive in the real dating world? What is the average person’s experience? Do most people find their true love and end up as living, breathing eHarmony commercials, or do most give up in disappointment?
After using Craigslist to find people willing to do on-camera interviews about their online dating experiences, I quickly discovered that many people had a lot in common—especially their larger-than-life personalities.
Audrey is a forty-something would-be actress who fell in love with a mysterious South African boat captain. Marty is an affable, middle-aged father-of-three and swinger with a “black book” containing thousands of names who hopes to find a wife online. Colleen is a single chef who doesn’t want either a one night stand or a boyfriend. She wants something in between. Thirty-something Andy uses online dating and matchmakers but hasn’t found that special someone. Although he did find a woman who, on their first date, offered him $100,000 to father her child.
After recording all of these insightful - and sometimes crazy - stories about the world of online dating, I knew I had a fantastic and original movie to make. Internet dating has been around for more than a decade, but it still isn't clear whether online dating really works. Is “happily ever after” a realistic goal for online daters? Find out by watching Clickin' for Love.

„I might have been born in Liverpool, but I grew up in Hamburg.“ (John Lennon)Filmfest Hamburg 2010 is honouring The Beatles with the section „Strawberry Fields“. Exactly 50 years ago the Fab Four had their first performance in St. Pauli. Then they got world famous. Another anniversary: John Lennon would have been 70 years old. It was 1 am on a frigid February morning and Joan Collins’ boots were getting a haircut. We were supposed to shoot the outdoor scene earlier in the day but because of the non-stop snowstorm, filming kept being delayed. A team of crew members continuously shoveled the balcony and tried to keep the ground dry–all the better to keep legendary goddess from being electrocuted while shooting. As the snow fell and the city came to a halt, the lights were being set up by the grips and electrical dep...
Jeremiah Sayys is the talented writer/producer/director/actor of the soon to be released film Of Silence (2010). Of Silence poses this thought-provoking philosophical question: What if silence was a living thing?
I asked Jeremiah to tell us about his new film, which for my part, I cannot wait to see.
ME: Jeremiah, can you tell us about Of Silence and what inspired you to make this film?
JEREMIAH: It’s a challenging story, a mind-bender. It asks questions, b...

There is no doubt that John Lithgow is an accomplished serious actor who can never be too over the top for his own liking. Tuesday night was a rare opportunity to see him in a conversation with David Ansen, the new Artistic Director of LAFF. What was so special about this was that they were college roommates at Harvard and are still best friends. That gave David a unique insight and made it a more personal co...

While it is undeniably fun (and instructive) to view the completed films at this year's SILVERDOCS, much of the meat of the 7 day program is in its annual professional conference. Held parallel to the film screenings at the AFI Silver Theater and other venues, the concurrent International Documentary Conference is a must for professionals in the non-fiction field.
The Conference brings together leading filmmakers, educators, broadcasters, business leaders, distributors, private a...

The year America's oldest art colony turned 100, it reckoned it couldn't start another century without a cinema fete. Thus was born the Provincetown International Film Festival. That was 1999, and now PIFF heads into its 12th edition June 16 to 20, 2010.
The Festival will once again salute "new achievements in independent film…and the work of acclaimed and emerging directors, producers and actors," as per its website. Not a peep about writers, which is the bailiwick of the N...

Before the announcement of the official Selection on April 15th, the Festival de Cannes unveils its poster: the image of the 63rd edition is a photograph of Juliette Binoche by Brigitte Lacombe.
Continuing the series of heroines as representations of screen mysteries, initiated two years ago, festival organizers were charmed by this allegorical figure of the cinema who gives life to the image with a single stroke of
