US Producer Steve Golin to Receive Career Achievement Award during The Zurich Fest

37th AFI Life Achievement Award - Show

US producer Steve Golin will be the recipient of the Zurich Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award this year. He will attend the festival together with showrunner Sam Esmail and the actors Christian Slater and Rami Malek from the TV series MR. ROBOT. Golin will also bring along his latest feature film SPOTLIGHT, which will screen at the festival as a Gala Premiere. The award and celebration will include a retrospective featuring some of his most popular hit films.

Steve Golin made his name with such films as BABEL, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and BEING JOHN MALKOVICH. He is the founder and CEO of the multimedia development, production and talent management company Anonymous Content. Starring Rachel McAdams in the lead and such greats as Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci, John Slattery and Billy Crudup in further roles, his latest production SPOTLIGHT screens as a Gala Premiere on Monday September 28.

“It is rare to find someone who has had such significant and wide ranging successes across the entertainment landscape over a long period of time,” said ZFF Co-Directors Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri. “Steve has given so much to the film world, in so many ways – he deserves to be recognised for his accomplishments and we are honoured to do so at this year’s ZFF.”

Academy Award Nomination for BABEL

The TV cyberpunk series MR. ROBOT was created by US screenwriter, director and showrunner Sam Esmail. Screening as a Swiss premiere at the ZFF, the pilot series was directed by Niels Arden Oplev and stars Christian Slater, Rami Malek, Portia Doubleday and Charly Chaikin.

Written and directed by Tom McCarthy, SPOTLIGHT tells the true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core. Golin produced the film with Michael Sugar, Nicole Rocklin and Blye Pagon Faust.

Steve Golin has produced a number of feature films throughout his career, including David Fincher's THE GAME, Spike Jonze's BEING JOHN MALKOVIC, Michel Gondry's ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, Alejandro González Iñárritu's BABEL and Gavin Hood's RENDITION. BABEL received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture in 2006.

Producer of TWIN PEAKS

As the co-founder of Propaganda Films, Steve Golin has worked with filmmakers like Michael Bay, Spike Jonze, Dominic Sena, Simon West and Antoine Fuqua. He was responsible for the development and production of such celebrated TV series as TWIN PEAKS and ARMISTEAD MAUPIN’S TALES OF THE CITY. As CEO of the production company Anonymous Content, Golin has worked with directors like David Fincher, Neil LaBute, David Kellogg, Gore Verbinski and Mark Romanek.

Golin built Propaganda FIlms into the largest music video and commercial production company in the world, winning more MTV Video Awards and Cannes Palme d'Or Awards than any other company. He helped revolutionise the music video and commercial industries with sophisticated and award-winning work for such artists as Michael Jackson, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Bonnie Raitt, George Michael and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and major advertisers including Budweiser, AT&T, IBM, Nike, Apple and McDonald's.
