Catherine Deneuve launches the reopening of the London Ciné Lumière

On January 9, Catherine Deneuve inaugurated the new Ciné Lumière in London, reopened to the public after major renovations.

The Ciné Lumière has reopened with a gala launch featuring three high-profile preview screenings: Un conte de Noël (A Christmas Tale), Entre les murs (The Class), and Faubourg 36 (Paris 36). Arnaud Desplechin and Catherine Deneuve presented Un conte de Noël on Friday, while Christophe Barratier, Nora Arnezeder, and Gérard Jugnot presented Faubourg 36 this evening. These three films will be screened at the Ciné Lumière for their commercial release in London.

A retrospective of Catherine Deneuve’s films will also be held until the end of January.
Celebrations will continue in the weeks to come, with a visit by Claude Lelouch, who will present his film Roman de Gare (Crossed Tracks),
also prior to the film’s commercial release. A season of films
dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the French New Wave will be
inaugurated by Bernadette Lafont, with a Francophone film noir
all-nighter event also organized as part of the Francophone Day.

The Ciné Lumière is independently programmed and unaffiliated with any
cinema chain, and stands out as one of the few London screens devoted
exclusively to arthouse, recent, and classic specialized film.
Recognized as one of London’s best cinemas dedicated to French cinema,
the Ciné Lumière regularly invites leading French actors and directors
to participate in its programs.
