Telefilm Canada Pitch This! Winners

 

Tuesday, September 11--------The winners of the Telefilm Canada Pitch This! competition have been announced. Producers Jim Goodall and Paul Lenart have been selected as the winners, with a cash award of $10,000 to go toward the development of their project., GIANTLAND, a unique animated feature, using puppetry and CGI, about two kids who fall into a sink and enter a fantasy land of giants.

Telefilm Canada Pitch This! took place earlier today at the Sutton Place Hotel , where six final applicants gave six-minute pitches to a panel of industry professionals, in front of an audience over 250 industry registrants. This year's Telefilm Canada Pitch This! finalists were: Geoff Redknap and Katie Weekley for THE AUBURN HILLS BREAKDOWN, Daniel Shehori and Steven Shehori for THE ENGAGEMENT PACT, Jim Goodall and Paul Lenart for GIANTLAND, Adnan Ahmed for INVISIBLE CITY,  Mona Waserman and Peter Reynolds for SENIOR YEAR, and Shelly Hong and Soo-won Lee for SWALLOW. This year's Pitch Coaches were: Anne Carey, Producer, This is that corporation; Amotz Zakai, VP of Production, Echo Lake Productions; Shirley Vercruysse, Producer, Burns Film Ltd.; and Lina Marrone, VP of Worldwide Sales, Arclight Films.

Previous Telefilm Canada Pitch This! winners Richie Mehta for AMAL (2005) and Chaz Thorne for POOR BOY'S GAME (2001), directed by Clement Virgo, are screening in the Festival's Canada First! and as a Special Presentation sections at this year's Festival. Thorne's directorial debut JUST BURIED also screens in Canada First!
