From 1989 on, when Rondolino became director of the festival, it has been led by Alberto Barbera (from AIACE), Steve Della Casa, Roberto Turigliatto and Giulia D’Agnolo (from the film club Movie Club founded by Baldo Vallero, who will be on the festival board for a long time). From 2006 on, the festival has been guided by important directors such as Nanni Moretti, Gianni Amelio, Paolo Virzi, and two film critics, Emanuela Martini and Stefano Francia di Celle. The festival has dedicated great attention to retrospectives (particularly successful are the French New Wave, the New German Cinema, John Carpenter, George Romero, Manoel De Oliveira, Paolo Gobetti, Aleksandr Sokurov, William Friedkin, Roman Polanski, Wim Wenders, Philippe Garrel, Paulo Rocha, Mohsen Makhmalbaf). VIDEO: World premiere at Turin FF - Immortals. The Wonders of the The Museo Egizio - Interview with Dr. Christian Greco

The world premiere of "Immortals. The Wonders Of The Museo Egizio" took place yesterday November 26 at the Romano Cinema in Turin with the director Dr. Christian Greco and the president Evelina Christellin of the Egyptian Museum presents, aswell as the director Michele Mally.

The documentary takes viewers on a journey through the fascinating history of ancient Egypt's most beautiful archaeological finds. We also follow Kha, an architect and builder of tombs for pharaohs, on his perilous journey to the Underworld where eternal life is at stake, but the risk is being dissolved into cosmic nothingness. The story is narrated by Jeremy Irons, who takes us inside the secret world of Egyptian mythology, religion, and funerary culture. Irons expertly interweaves Kha's journey with the history of the oldest museum in the world, the Museo Egizio in Turin. Founded in 1824, it is soon to celebrate its 200th anniversary and is home to Kha's own Tomb, along with the most complete and valuable private collection of grave goods outside of Egypt. As we journey along the Nile, we explore the magnificent monuments of Giza, Luxor, Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, and the workers' village of Deir el-Medina. Irons follows in the footsteps of Italian explorers and archaeologists, who collected the most important pieces that make up the Turin collection. Their itineraries also lead to the exhibition halls of the Cairo Museum, the Ägyptischen Museum, the British Museum, and the Louvre. From Ramesses II in Turin to the treasures of Tutankhamun, the bust of Nefertiti, the Red Scribe in the Louvre, and the Rosetta Stone in London, this documentary is a journey through the most beautiful and significant archaeological finds Egypt has left us. Contributions from experts in the field such as Christian Greco - Director of Museo Egizio, Sabah Abd el-Razek - Director of Cairo Museum, Friederike Seyfried - Director of Ägyptischen Museum Berlin, Vincent Rondot - Director of The Department of Egyptian Antiquities, the Louvre, Daniel Antoine - Director of The Department of Egyptian Antiquities, the British Museum, and Professor Pieter ter Keurs - Anthropologist, University of Leiden.

Here is my interview with Dr. Greco about the idea to the documentary which came from 3D Productions, about the history of the museum, which is the oldest museum of egypthology in the world and the upcoming festivities for the 200 years anniversary of the museum in 2024. Anm other celebration took place on 26.11 already, Christian Greco has received the award ""Torinese dell'Anno/Citizen of the year of Turin" from the Chamber of Commerce for his merrits to promote Turin and his dedicated work for the museum. Congratulations!
