San Sebastian Film Festival: Posters and clips to all sections

We are getting ready to the opening night of the 60Th San Sebastian International Film Festival due from 21-29 September.

Posters of all sections have been revealed and this year we also have a selection of clips announcing each section and retrospectives.

A moving number 60 celebrates the 60th San Sebastian Festival from its poster

In the Official selection category "60 Cine(tico)", the poster presented by the designer from San Sebastian and director of the Eurosíntesis studio, Ángel Caño.

The winner of the poster for the Festival's Official Selection, Ángel Caño, says of his work:

"The official Festival poster: the illusion of movement
Zinemaldia is 60 this year, a grand age that deserves celebration.
Our idea was for the full weight to be borne by the number 60 as the central element of the poster. We wanted it to be the unquestionable symbol of this edition, to bring it alive. Taking this as our basis, we looked for something to make it recognisable and relate it to the cinema. In the end we decided to give it a kinetic effect, playing with the idea of the thaumatrope, a game pre-dating the invention of cinema.
The red colour of the lettering is a wink to the red carpet walked by film stars, and hence to glamour. This colour will take on even greater importance as we apply it to the different supports.
The poster symbolises the illusion of movement. All of its elements combine harmoniously to create an aesthetically pleasing overall image which, though simple, has a striking visual impact."

Headers and promotional clips for the different retrospectives

For the first time, the Festival has produced headers for screening before each film in the New Directors, Zabaltegi-Pearls and Horizontes Latinos sections.
The Festival therefore recalls, on its 60th anniversary, the filmmakers and films programmed for the event over the years before becoming known and who are now solidly established moviemakers whose works are presented at major festivals worldwide.
The headers are the work of Carlos Rodríguez from Morgan Creativos.
The traditional promotional clips, by Aritz Moreno, Raúl Lopez and Wallijai, have also been presented for the Festival retrospectives.
