Special Agent Scully

Gillian Anderson, a special star and prettiest guest on 15th Sarajevo Film Festival presented herself to the audience and press representers in Coffee With Program, which you can actually download, hear and see if you go on the official site www.sff.ba

This outstanding American actress, well known by „The X Files“ television serial, as a special agent Scully on FOX Television, is the most critically-acclaimed drama series ever, in the history of American television, she is actually  Lily Bart in Terence Davies' masterpiece "The House of Mirth" (2000), and Lady Dedlock in the successful BBC production of Charles Dickens' "Bleak House". For her role as Lily Bart in „The House of Mirth“ Anderson won British Independent Film Award: Best Actress,  Golden Satellite Award: Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama Nominated (2001), London Critics Circle Film Award: Actress of the Year

Nominated (2001), Village Voice Film Critics Poll: Best Performance Won (2000). And for her role as Lady Dedlock in Bleak House she had BAFTA TV Award: Best Actress Nominated (2006),  Broadcasting Press Guild Award: Best Actress Won (2006), Emmy Award: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie Nominated (2006), Golden Globe: Actress, Miniseries or Movie Nominated (2007), Satellite Award: Best Actress in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television Nominated (2005). As for a theatre, in 2003, she won the Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Best Actress Award for her West End debut in Michael Weller's two-hander "What the Night Is For".  " I have no idea how the transition was made from wanting to be an archeologist or a marine biologist, to wanting to be an actress, but it just kind of happened.“ Said Gillian.

From the start Gillian had an interest for the dramatic, that has simply always been her personality. When she was 14 and a teacher assigned her the "Romeo And Juliet" balcony scene, Gillian had not known Shakespeare, acting or anything like it. Nobody on either side of her family had any experience with acting. Her father was interested in film production, but that had mostly been connected with industrial training films and commercials. But she studied that scene and failed. But even so, when Gillian performed the jaws just dropped.

The most radiant part of all was definitely Special Agent Scully in “The X Files”. Executives at Fox wanted someone with less radiance and more sex-appeal cast in the role of Scully, but writer-director Chris Carter insisted that Gillian had the no-nonsense integrity that the role required. Soon, she had the role of Agent Scully and immediately flew to Canada to begin with this pilot role. "I didn't foresee at all that it was going to become as popular at all and what have I gotten myself into?' In 1996 Gillian won Screen Actors Guild Award - Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, 1997 Emmy - Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, 1997 Golden Globe - Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series, Drama 1997 Screen Actors Guild Award - Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

Today Gillian is  the Activist that continues to promote awareness for many charitable causes such as Neurofibromatosis, Inc., the Neurofibromatosis Association (UK), Buskaid, South Africa's Treatment Action Campaign (TAC), ACTSA, PETA, and the Zimbabwe Benefit Foundation. Her most recent project will benefit the Alinyiikira Junior School in Kampala Uganda.
