'Inch’ Allah' (2012) at 24th Palm Springs International Film FestivalInch’ Allah. Canada, 2012. Canadian filmmaker Anais Barbeau-Lavalette’s film “Inch'Allah” is about a Quebecer female doctor ‘Chloe’ (played by Evelyne Brochu) working for the Red Cross in a Palestinian refugee camp in Ramallah who finds herself in the midst of war. Every day she crosses the border between the Israeli side of the border where she lives, to the Palestinian side where she works, witness to the quotidian horror of this tragic divide. Largely autobiographical, Anais traveled to Palestine twelve years ago to make a documentary about the split region, which later inspired her to write the story behind “Inch'Allah”, about a Western woman who finds herself witness to the relentless Israeli-Palestinian battle. While remaining an outsider to the conflict, the film explores what it means to experience the situation firsthand and the scars that it leaves on the insider/outsider. It is a powerful feat providing a new look at an old issue on ancient land, which bravely explores four perspectives to this wretched ongoing struggle- the Palestinian, the Israeli, the in-betweener and the outsider. “Inch'Allah” made its World Premier at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and screened most recently at the 24th Palm Springs international Film Festival as well as the 63rd Berlinale in the ‘Panorama’ section. -Written by Vanessa McMahon Visit the official website here: http://www.inchallah-lefilm.com/ 15.02.2013 | Palm Springs's blog Cat. : 'Inch’ Allah' (2012) at 24th Palm Springs International Film Festival News
