Roman Coppola is coming to FEST -  Training Ground.

The Screenwriter, Director and Producer is notably known, among others, for co-writing alongside Wes Anderson, on Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom (2012)" which got them nominated for an Academy Award, a Writers Guild of America Award and a BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay

He co-wrote and produced "The Darjeeling Limited" (2012) and more recently co-wrote 2017's "Isle of Dogs", both also directed by Wes Anderson. His most recent feature as director and writer was "A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III" (2012), starring Charlie Sheen, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwartzman.

Mr. Coppola grew up in the world of film making, and has developed his directing skills by working in multiple capacities – from sound recordist to cinematographer, from writer and producer, to inventor. In his Masterclass, Roman Coppola will approach his method of working and development process.

Roman Coppola thus joins the batch of confirmed speakers for this year's edition of FEST - Training Ground are Eddy Joseph - Sound Editor  "The Wall" (1982), "Corpse Bride" (2005); Gareth Wiley - Producer "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" (2008); "Match Point" (2005); Jessie Auritt - Director, Producer, Editor "Supergirl" (2016), "The Birdman" (2013); Paul Miller - Producer "Prozac Nation" (2001), "Snow Angels" (2007); Tim Corrie - Talent Agent Deputy Chairman of BAFTA, Founder of United Agents

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

When and Where?
The event will take place between the 19th and 24th of June 2018 in Espinho, a tourism orientated city and one of the summer hotspots of Portugal, 15 minutes south of Porto along the sea coastline.

Why go?
FEST Training Ground is an excellent and unique opportunity on many levels. It's a unique communication platform:  the amount of knowledge and experience shared by our experts is overwhelming and while attending Training Ground, the participants will also be able to establish a wide network with the remaining 600 participants coming from more than 35 countries and all areas of film. To reinforce the importance of networking and facilitate this connection we organize a serie of other activities during the event:

Industry Meetings - a platform where some of the festival guests will be available for participants to discuss and give feedback on their projects in development.

Filmmakers Corner - a space for the participants to expose their work to an audience of their choice in a special screening area. This area will be open throughout the event and can be booked for free by any participant.

Networking Dinners - The networking dinners are held every night during FEST and are a place where participants and guests share a traditional Portuguese meal.

Speed meeting - On the first day of Training Ground, all the participants have a single minute to introduce themselves to every other participant/guest in the event.

FEST Nights - "Work hard, play hard" is the motto during FEST , so you can join other participants and guests at the FEST bar every night.

The full access pass for the event costs €69,99 and it grants entry to all the activities and sessions of FEST – Training Ground and FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival, during the whole 6 days of the event. This pass does not include accommodation.
