Since childhood, I’ve had the luck to come through two mini-depressions, and I am awaiting, quite serenely, the third. That’s enough for me to believe that life has a certain beauty, and to take pleasure in trying to film it in all its forms: trees, animals, gods, mortals – and all that at a time when love is alive. When it comes to innocence, the filmmaker in me has lost a part of it. It’s so delicate to spot it around you, so difficult not to lose it during shoots. My gratitude goes to those who you see on screen. To stand up to the passing of time, I have a routine which involves delving into my stock of old emotions and images. Not to find what will not come to mind, but to detect in winter the signs of spring. That allows me to start yet another day with a light step.
