A Tribute to Moroccan CinemaThe Haifa IFF celebrates the new cooperation agreement between Morocco and Israel with a tribute to Moroccan cinema. The Haifa IFF is honored to welcome a delegation of Moroccan filmmakers, including celebrated director and producer Nabil Ayouch (Horses of God, Ali Zaoua: Prince of the Streets), winner of dozens of international awards, and women filmmakers like Maryam Touzani, Laila Marrakchi and Yasmine Benkiran. Alongside the film screenings, the program will include meetings with the audience and with members of the Israeli film industry. Nabil Ayouch will give a masterclass moderated by Yael Perlov, a unique opportunity to meet the man, the artist and the filmmaker. Another panel discussion will include Yasmine Benkiran, whose film Queens comes to Haifa directly from its Venice premiere; Maryam Touzani (the wife of Nabil Ayouch) is represented by two features and a short, including her Cannes award winner, the Blue Caftan; and Laila Marrakchi with crowd favorite Rock the Casbah. The event is moderated by Yasmine Bouchfar, a leading film critic from Morocco. Also participating in the event - Hanna Azoulay-Hasfari, Israeli screenwriter film director, whose film Orange People (2013) was shot in Morocco. The event is held in cooperation with the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts, the Israel-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Israeli Foreign Office.
