To take over another continent with our
awesome documentary about YouTubers, we have accomplished another sale
last week, this time to ZUKU TV in Nairobi, Kenya in Africa. I
am really super excited we are able to show all over the world only one
year after our Premiere in Los Angeles. I am also super very excited to
see where else we go in the next year coming up. Eventhough YouTube
seems very popular in the USA, Internet video is still in development
stages in many parts of the res...

The YouTube community has changed so much since the premiere of the film. We are really
happy that we were able to capture its beginnings and talk to some of the YouTubers, who started it all.
Best of luck with your YouTube channel.

One of the first feature films distributed on YouTube is Fest 21 member's documentary film Butterflies.
The independent film from European filmmaker Ester Brym has finished its festival run last year graduating with a couple of awards
and going on to make history as one of the first films being available for rent on YouTube.
Butterflies is feature film following the
lives of six young people that are prominent 'weblebrities' on a video

Terrible and expensive place to screen. For the submission fee of $70, you get a room with a couple of chairs and none of your posters nowhere to be seen. We were also “lucky” enough to have our screening scheduled against the opening party of the festival. Needless to say that nobody had any idea we were showing, besides our friends.
Also needless to say, that there was no effort from the festival organizer to put any attention to our film, because our time slot was in competition with the...
Ester Brym's feature documentary Butterflies focuses on the celebrity life of YouTube personalities.
The film premiered in July 2009 at AOF film festival in LA and signed with UK distributor Journeyman Pictures in October.
The director shot this as her directing debut on a budget put together from her savings and credit cards.

This was the third year for this “film festival” and we should have known better and save ourselves the $60 submission fee.
Upon receiving the acceptance letter, we were also informed, that if we are planning to make the journey to Montana for this film-festival, we should absolutely contact the festival organizers. I have tried this for over 3 weeks without an email or phone call response. Again, we should have known ….
Because we were planning our trip to other film festivals and n...
Dear Filmmakers:
As our festival run with Butterflies ended, we were wondering if you would like to hear about the experiences we had at different film festivals.
We have found that some festivals and festival organizers are really helpful and there for indie filmmakers, and some other ones only care about the submission fee money.
Would you be interested in hearing about the festivals we attended?
Let me know :)

Philadelphia’s Independent Film Festival is proud to announce Butterflies film to be presented at the 12th annual event on October 25th 2009 at 6PM
This will be your last chance to see the Award Winning film about YouTube on a big screen.
We have had some great experience at the film festival circle, as well as some not so very good.
It is sad to know that some film festival organizers are only there to scam filmmakers and get money out of them for
their own projects. We really hope that F...
