LA Film Festival: Opening Night Gala! 6/21/07

If last night is any indication of what is to come for me over the next 10 days, I am VERY excited! This is my first time at the LA Film Festival and I have to say, this festival is top notch!

I came straight from work (in Hollywood) to the first night of the festival. There were very clear signs for parking and friendly staff guiding the cars. (They had me at "clear signs".) So I get to the Mann Village Theatre for the opening night film premiere and there is a line on the side of the theater. No problem... I saw a friend in line from when I worked in the music business. Very cool! Finally, the line started moving but it didn't move toward the theater, instead they were taking us across the street to The Regent theater. The main theater was full but LAFF had a backup plan: "The Overflow Theater" Yay! Nobody was mad and everyone was excited to see the movie. The premiere? Kasi LemmonsKasi Lemmons"Talk To Me", directed by Kasi Lemmons and it stars Don Cheadle (amazing!), Chiwetel Ejiofor, Taraji Henson, Mike Epps, Vondie Curtis Hall, Cedric the Entertainer and Martin Sheen. It's a great movie about an outspoken radio DJ in the 60s. It's still playing at the festival so if you get a chance, check it out.

Next up, the Opening Night Gala! This party was awesome! Pictures coming soon. I've gotten get ready for the Diversity Expo Party tonight! Ciao!

Lisa :-)
