Five Debut Films Nominated for European Discovery 2013

The European Film Academy congratulates the nominees for the EUROPEAN DISCOVERY 2013 – Prix FIPRESCI,

an award presented annually as part of the European Film Awards to a young and upcoming director for a first full-length feature film. 

This year’s nominations were determined by a committee comprised of EFA Board Members Helena Danielsson
(Sweden) and László Kantor (Hungary), EFA Members Pierre-Henri Deleau (France) and Jacob Neiiendam
(Denmark), as well as Alin Tasciyan (Turkey), Andrei Plakhov (Russia), and Marco Spagnoli (Italy) as members
of FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics.

The nominated films will soon be submitted to the 2,900 EFA Members to elect the winner. The European Discovery 2013 – Prix FIPRESCI will then be presented at the European Film Awards Ceremony in Berlin on Saturday, 7 December - streamed live on www.europeanfilmawards.eu

The European Film Awards 2013 are presented by the European Film Academy e.V. and EFA Productions gGmbH. Public supporters: FFA German Federal Film Board, German State Lottery Berlin, German State Minister for Culture and the Media, MEDIA Programme of the EU, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Private partners: 40seconds, Aveda, GLS, Hôtel Concorde Berlin, M∙A∙C, Mast-Jägermeister SE and ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland GmbH.

The European Film Awards are presented in 15 categories and take place in Berlin every second year.

The 2013 edition returns to Berlin this December.

After Paris, Glasgow, London, Rome, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Bochum, Tallinn and Valletta the European Film Awards 2014 will take place in Riga,  Saturday, 13 December 2014
